CONCEPTUAL PLANNING AND STRATEGIC ADVICE CONCERNING THE NEW CONCEPT OF THE DELTA METROPOLE ( THE URBAN CONGLOMERATION FORMERLY CALLED 'RANDSTAD', 2800 KM2, 6.6 MILLION INHABITANTS).
There is no denying the growing competition among city regions world wide to capture mobile investment, multinational headquarters and tourist spending. The Fifth Report on land use planning, published by the Dutch Ministry of Planning, defined the Deltametropool, the former Randstad region, as a 'national urban network of international level, that can compete with metropolitan regions elsewhere in Europe'. In Target Deltametropool, a study done for the Dutch National Spatial Planning Agency, all regional projects, plans and ideas that deal with the Deltametropool are sorted, selected and weighted in a number of distinct steps. In this way Maxwan have produced an overview of the possibilities and alliances within the existing set of plans and ideas, thus making it possible to come to structural choices for a more internationally competitive Deltametropool.
